                                Abstract | 
	
                                The applicability of high-carbon solid bio-char composed for carbon sequestration has been investigated. The objective of this study was to analyze the mechanical properties of cement mortar containing wood-based bio-char as a substitute for cement, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions in the cement industry. The wood-based bio-char used in this study had an average particle size of 20.65 μm and possessed porosity, making it suitable as a filler in the cement mortar mixture. The experimental results indicated that up to 5 % of the cement mass fraction could be replaced with wood-based bio-char without adversely affecting the mechanical properties compared to those of plain mortar.
